The industries that rely on landscape management run as far and wide as the American countryside. Golf course superintendents are just the tip … you’ll also find skilled individuals designing, developing and maintaining high school, college, public and professional athletic fields; state and national parks; wildlife reserves and zoo facilities; industrial park grounds; commercial and private landscapes; and other areas. Ever wanted an office with a view? One of the benefits of being a golf course superintendent is an office with one of the best views. Texas State Technical College prepares students with the necessary tools to obtain their career goals in the golf course industry. As businesses, individuals and organizations worldwide gain appreciation for the value of “curb appeal,” exponential growth continues for savvy, educated landscape technicians like graduates of the Golf Course & Landscape Management program at Texas State Technical College Waco. In the Golf Course & Landscape Management program, you can learn all aspects of turfgrass maintenance and landscaping by applying theories and concepts to practical, real-world uses. The laboratory-intensive program includes extensive instruction in turfgrass, golf course, landscape design, landscape installation and plant knowledge.

Golf Writer Andy Reistetter lives in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, the Golf Capital of the World. It is home of the PGA TOUR, TPC Sawgrass and THE PLAYERS. Nearby is the World Golf Hall of Fame in St. Augustine. But wait, there is more than just professional golf here. Whether the collegiate Hyatt Invitation at Sawgrass CC or this week’s Jr. PLAYERS at TPC Sawgrass, all levels of golf call this part of the world home. Relive this week’s impressive victory by Gavin Hall in the 2011 Jr. PLAYERS at TPC Sawgrass.

Go out and shoot a 64 on your 17th birthday.

Enjoy a family dinner at Ruth’s Chris Steak House to celebrate.

The next day, play strong down the stretch and win the Jr. PLAYERS Championship.

Exciting and priceless, but this is no MasterCard commercial.

Perhaps the world should get to know the newly minted Gavin Hall.

Hello, Gavin Hall.

The tall, smiling left-hander has an unmistakable presence like that of Phil Mickelson.

But unlike Mickelson, he was steady and conservative down the stretch on the renowned back nine of the Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass.

Hall started the day with a three-stroke lead over Jim Liu after a Saturday 64 on the “other” Pete Dye gem, the Valley Course.

The next nearest competitor was a further three strokes back of Liu.

Like the PLAYERS, the junior version has one of the strongest, if not the strongest field in all of junior golf. It is made up 78 players, including the top 60 from the United States and the top 18 from around the world.

What looked like a battle of New Yorkers—Hall from upstate Pittsford near Rochester, Liu from Smithtown on Long Island—turned into just that.

It could have been Choi vs. Toms, Garcia vs. Goydos or “Phil the Thrill” vs. O’Hair in the professional PLAYERS.

After failing to get up and down from short of the green on the 9th hole with a putter in his hand, Hall held the slimmest of leads over Lui at the turn, with just one stroke separating the two players.

The battle with Lui was fierce and magnified with two-stroke swings on Nos. 11, 13 and 17.

After a pair of pars on No. 10, Liu went for the green on the par-5 11th. His second shot found water right, missing the safety of the bulkhead green complex by only inches.

Hall reached the green safely in two and two-putted for a birdie, while Liu made a testy six-footer for bogey.

After more pars on No. 12, Liu made a 12-footer for a deuce on the par-3 13th, while Hall played conservatively away from the water and failed to get up-and-down and walked away with a bogey.

Hall’s one-stroke lead evaporated on the difficult 14th. Liu hit a strong iron shot from the right rough and made a two-putt par. Hall missed the green right from the fairway and failed to get up-and-down from one of Dye’s treacherous bunkers.

Liu bogeyed the 15th after being blocked by a tree from the right fairway bunker. This put him back to one stroke behind as he entered TPC Sawgrass’ three water-laden closing holes, known as “the Water Closet,” at least to this author.

Liu’s drive was only feet from the fairway with what looked like a playable lie. It turned out that it wasn’t all that playable. His layup iron shot squirted right a bit and found the water after hitting ground first.

If players don’t flush their iron shots coming home on the Stadium Course, the Water Closet will surely flush them down the leader board.

Guarding his lead, Hall once again played conservatively with his second shot left of the green. Though the chip was a tricky one, he drained a 15-footer for birdie to increase his lead to four strokes over Liu, who made double bogey on the always pivotal 15th.

With the traditional Sunday hole location on the right of the famous 17th island green, the 17-year-old Hall played cautiously to the middle of the green.

While Hall was comfortably ahead of Lui, Jonathon Garrick playing two groups ahead had eagled the 16th and was on his way to closing out an impressive four-under 68 and posting a two-under total in the clubhouse.

Hall’s lag putt on the 17th green was difficult. It was flat at first with a severe downhill slope at the end. His first putt was skillfully struck, but stopped five feet short and left a difficult par putt.

Hall made the putt and went to the 18th tee knowing he had a two-stroke lead with one to play.

He again bailed out conservatively into the right rough, avoiding an untimely flush in the Water Closet.

His iron shot cleared the trees and safely landed on the green.

Having three putts to win, he took them all to edge Garrick by a stroke at the end of a draining experience in his first Jr. PLAYERS Championship.

Hall, in this the fifth edition of the Jr. PLAYERS, joins Morgan Hoffman (2007, now a senior at Oklahoma State and ranked No. 12 in Golfweek Sagarin Rankings), Evan Beck (2008, a junior at Wake Forest and ranked No. 31), Bobby Wyatt (2009, a sophomore at Alabama and ranked No. 37), and Michael Johnson (freshman at La Salle, named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week after being a medalist in team’s spring opener) as champions of the prestigious Jr. PLAYERS.

Entering his junior year at Pittsford-Mendon High School, Hall will be the first to have the opportunity to defend his Jr. PLAYERS title.

Hall’s win also comes with an invitation to play on the Nationwide Tour in the Winn-Dixie Open on the Valley Course in October, where he shot a 64 on Saturday to set up his breakthrough victory on the Stadium Course.

All that talk about how television contracts for golf were going to dry up has just blown away in the heat of summer.

Today PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem, CBS Sports chairman Sean McManus and NBC Sports Group chairman Mark Lazarus announced that they have signed agreements that extend to 2021.

“This effectively, with the last year of our current agreement next year, means that our television rights are secured and our broadcast partnerships are secured for the next 10 years,” Finchem said. “We wanted to continue with these two broadcast partners because in both the cases of CBS and NBC, they have become exceptional partners in all areas and has resulted in more value to them, more value to our players.”

CBS will broadcast approximately 20 events a year, a total of 130 hours of live weekend coverage. NBC will continue to broadcast around 10 events a year with more than 75 hours of live coverage.

“For over 50 years, golf, in particular the PGA Tour, has been a really, really important part of CBS Sports. It’s part of our heritage,” Sean McManus said. “We produce, I believe it’s over 150 hours a year of golf programming, not just the PGA Tour, but of course the first major of the year, the Masters, and the last major of the year, the PGA Championship, so golf is really, really important to us.”

McManus mentioned the parallel to recent deals with the PGA Championship, the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship and SEC football that were also long-term deals.

“We’re thrilled, as well, to extend for nine more years and to be in business for the next decade,” Mark Lazarus said. “The NBC Sports Group is obviously very bullish on the sport of golf and the PGA Tour with this extension for the NBC Television Network on behalf of our affiliate stations and their constituents and with the work we do and the long-term arrangement we have with Golf Channel, PGA Tour and the game of golf are very important to our company and to our overall business model.”

With NBC and Golf Channel both owned by Comcast, there is sure to be cross promotion on those two networks than there has ever been in the past. The deal also locks out ABC and ESPN. ABC, which owns ESPN, declined interest in golf in the last round of contracts, and apparently the PGA Tour did not forget that.

“A 10-year window now, or runway, if you will, gives our sponsors a lot of confidence in where the television side of the sport is going to be,” Finchem added. “That helps us in terms of creating value for our sponsors, maintaining continuity with our sponsors and extending our sponsors into the future.”

He added that it also allows the PGA Tour to focus on strategic plans for the growth of the organization and the sport of golf for the future without the distraction of renegotiating contracts every few years.

In addition to telecasts, there will also be additional programming or simulcasting in the digital world through the various dot coms including cbssports.com, nbcsports.com and golfchannel.com as well as pgatour.com.

The PGA Tour does not announce financial ramifications of television contracts, but Finchem outlined the trend. “Our rights are increasing,” he said.

He indicated that the increases will provide several benefits to the PGA Tour, which is basically the organization of touring professionals. It will help the player retirement program. It will allow the Tour to create new digital platforms to enhance fan relationships. It will provide more charity dollars which has been a driving mission of the PGA Tour since former commissioner Deane Beman converted the organization from a for profit company to a non-profit.

“I think at this point we then can say without question that barring some significant economic downturn that we will reach the $ 2 billion mark of charitable giving in 2014,” Finchem added. “I think I can say with some confidence that we could reach the $ 3 billion level before the end of these agreements in 2021.”

Finchem also gave detail on golf viewers:

165 million Americans watched golf in 2011.

81 million Americans are watch 10 or more events a year.

“That fanbase a huge buying power, and if you measure it against any other sports fanbase, NFL, MLB, NASCAR, you name it, we rank No. 1 in terms of the appetite for digital applications, the interest in digital applications, and the historical ability to pay for digital applications,” Finchem added.

Golf has long had a well-heeled, devoted base, and despite the economy, those viewers have not disappeared.

“The underpinning and the sponsorship support that the Tour provides both with their—the tournament sponsors and their official partners—is unique in sports,” NBC’s Lazarus added about the new contract. “I think I can say with some certainty that it’ll be profitable in each of the nine years.”

McManus agreed.

In terms of scheduling, Finchem does not see major changes in the next three to five years with the exception of the Olympics in 2016. He said that would impact the schedule “a little bit” every four years.

In terms of the digital age, there may be platforms that have yet to be invented.

“None of us know what all the multimedia opportunities are going to be three years from now, much less nine years from now,”McManus added. “The way these deals are structured between the three parties, CBS, NBC and the PGA Tour, we’re going to explore them together, and if there’s a benefit to doing featured groups or more simulcasting, whatever it might be, all of us share in that upside and all of us are involved in the creative process.”

The FedEx Cup playoffs move to the TPC Boston, as the PGA Deustche Bank Championship’s first round begins Friday, with the final round set on Labor Day Monday.

Charley Hoffman is back to defend his title, as he won the 2010 Deutsche Bank Championship by shooting a 9-under 62 in the final round to win by five shots.

There will be 99 players instead of 100 competing this weekend. J.B. Holmes is missing the playoffs due to health reasons.

The tournament at this moment is there for the taking. Dustin Johnson, winner last week at The Barclays, leads the standings coming into the weekend over Matt Kuchar and Nick Watney.

Johnson took over the top lead in the standings with his win at last week’s rain-shortened Barclays in New Jersey. With Hurricane Irene zeroing on the tri-state area The Barclays was shortened to 54-holes.

The weather forecast looks excellent for this weekend. With no storm in sight and the ground crews working the extra hour, the 7,214-yard, par-71 TPC course layout looks in great condition.

There are some story lines to highlight for this weekend besides the obvious playoff elimination battle. The PGA Rookie of The Year is at stake.

PGA Champ Keegan Bradley is a two-time winner this year. He might be on the lead over Masters Champ Charl Schwartzel, but he is no lock for it. If Schwartzel looks good the rest of the way he could take it away from Keegan.

The world’s No. 1 ranked player, Luke Donald, is looking for some consolation prize after coming up empty in the majors. He is very much in contention for the title.

So far the top 56 players in the FedEx Cup standings have locked-in their participation for next week’s BMW Championships.

Among the notables in danger of not making the top 70 are the FedEx Cup Defending Champ Jim Furyk, Anthony Kim, Graeme McDowell and three-time major champs Ernie Els and Padraig Harrington.

Let’s take a look at some of the threesomes and their tee times:

Featured Group – Tee No. 10, 8:10 a.m. – Dustin Johnson, Matt Kuchar, Nick Watney

This is a group of the top three players in the FedExCup standings. It will feature Johnson and Kuchar who battled last Sunday at the Barclays and Watney a two-time PGA winner this year.

The Top 10 Guys – Tee No. 1, 12:40 p.m. – Luke Donald, Webb Simpson and Brandt Snedeker.

Donald, the world’s top ranked player, has finished 10 times in the top-10 this year; Simpson has eight; and Snedeker has six, including last week when he tied for 10th.

The Guys in Trouble Group – Tee No. 1 1:16 pm – John Merrick, Ernie Els, Ben Crane

This is the group of the last three players in the FedEx Cup standings. They need to finish at least 17th to make it to next week’s BMW Championship.

Other notable threesomes:

Tee No. 1

7:22 a.m. – Defending FedEx Cup champ Jim Furyk pairs up the Kevin Streelman and Robert Allenby.

7:58 a.m. – Masters Champ Charl Schwartzel, PGA Championship runner-up Jason Dufner and Brian Davis.

8:10 a.m. – Adam Scott, Hunter Mahan and Charles Howell III.

11:52 a.m. – Sergio Garcia, Brendon De Jonge and Brendan Steele.

12:16 p.m. – 2001 PGA Champ David Toms, Bubba Watson and Bill Haas.

12:28 p.m. – Phil Mickelson, Gary Woodland and Johnathan Byrd.

Tee No. 10

7:46 a.m. – PGA Champ and New England native, Keegan Bradley, Masters and US Open runner-up Jason Day and Mark Wilson.

7:58 a.m. – 2008 FedEx Cup Champ and three-time major winner Vijay Singh, Steve Stricker and K.J.Choi.

11:40 a.m. – Anthony Kim, Harrison Frazar and Charlie Wi.

12:16 p.m. – Defending Champ Charley Hoffman, promising youngster Rickie Fowler and Bo Van Pelt.

12:52 p.m. – Three-time major champ Padraig Harrington, Blake Adams and Jeff Overton.

On August 22, PGA Tour player J.B. Holmes announced that he would be headed to the operating table for brain surgery to help alleviate a condition in his brain called Chiari Malformation.

The condition was causing Holmes to have numbness, dizziness, vision issues and severe headaches. It also started to effect his coordination and balance in recent weeks.

A native of Campbellsville, Kentucky, Holmes said via his Twitter account that he was looking forward to getting past this and back on the course.

The procedure was carried out at John’s Hopkins Hospital.

Holmes’ manager, Terry Reilly, called it a non-life threatening procedure prior to the surgery.

Reilly continued on to say, “They think it’s congenital and the procedure is very non-invasive. If everything goes according to schedule he could be hitting balls in a month.”

At that point, I’m sure very few people were concerned about a time table for when Holmes would be back hitting golf balls.

Earlier today, Holmes’ father confirmed through his son’s Twitter account that everything went great during his son’s procedure. Apparently the doctors said they were very optimistic.

Hundreds of well wishers have responded to the post and his father conveyed much gratitude on behalf of Holmes and his entire family for the thoughts, concerns and prayers during the procedure and now through the recovery.

It was definitely very good news from the Holmes’ family today after the procedure. Though they said it was a non-life threatening procedure, the idea of brain surgery is always very scary.

I want to take this time to offer my well wishes after a successful procedure to J.B. and his entire family and wish him a speedy recovery.

The ups and downs—more downs lately—of Tiger Woods‘ recent on- and off-course performances have been well documented since his fall from grace after his secret life was revealed some two years ago.

Woods, the former world’s No. 1 golfer, has been on a free fall in the Official Word Golf Rankings ever since.

Currently, the 14-time major champion is sitting in the 38th position, in real danger of perhaps falling out of the top 50 in the world and in need of a sponsor’s exemption to play in a tournament that he hosts.

Woods hosts the Chevron World Challenge which takes place in Thousand Oaks, California on December 1st to 4th which two years ago began to award world-ranking points.

Tournament director Greg McLaughlin said in a press conference to the Associated Press that he felt confident Woods would remain inside the top 50.

“We’re confident he’s going to be in the top 50 and will be eligible to play,” said McLaughlin.

Woods could seemingly and mathematically be ousted from the top 50 before the cutoff time of September 20th for this event.

Of course, a lot would depend on what certain players do in the FedEx Cup Playoffs in the next two weeks as well as a select few European players between now and the 20th of September.

The possibility is out there that he would indeed need a sponsor’s exemption to play in the event he is the host of.

After stating he was confident that Woods would remain in the top 50, McLaughlin then said almost tongue-in-cheek, “He most likely would need an exemption. We have two, and we would happily extend one to him.”

So this is apparently what Woods’ career has come to in recent times.

Needing a sponsor’s exemption to play in the event he hosts.

Are you a professional golfer struggling through some kind of injury?

Well, just hop on a plane and head to golf’s new fountain of youth in Dusseldorf, Germany.

At a small clinic in Dusseldorf, a world-renowned “miracle” doctor has been performing Orthokine therapy, a procedure that uses autologous, anti-inflammatory proteins, which are isolated from the patient’s blood and then injected back into the joint.

Although the medical community has known about Orthokine therapy for some time, it was Fred Couples that brought the eyes of the golf world to this ground-breaking procedure when he showed up at the Constellation Energy Senior Players Championship looking spry and pain free for the first time in years.

“Basically I took some MRIs and sent them around to a lot of doctors and almost well, four out of five said, you can rest and then have a surgery[.] I rested a lot in November and December, and I came back and hit balls the first day and I was right back to the same spot, not a week later,” Couples said in Snoqualmie, Washington, where he was on hand for the Boeing Classic.

Couples has been plagued by back problems for the better part of his career. However, the pain seemed to take a turn for the worse in 2011 when the 51-year-old was limited to just 10 professional events due to the pain.

“I would take three weeks off and feel really, really good, and then I would go hit balls, and normally the second day it would just start to ache. Honestly I wouldn’t sleep. I hated everybody. I couldn’t get through the day, and I was not playing good, so that’s where we were,” Couples said.

Until he decided to take a trip over to Dusseldorf, Germany, that is.

“The procedure was a no brainer,” Couples said.

“I went in there and they took a bunch of blood, and each day I went back at 11:00[,] except for one day I went for two treatments, but I went each day at 11:00 and was out of there at 11:30. It took the guy to prepare you and then shoot the stuff back into it. But originally I didn’t know what I was getting into. But it really, really helped. I don’t know how long it’ll help, but I haven’t had any pain.”

Now, before all you armchair officials begin reaching for your yellow flags, know this—although Orthokine therapy is not an approved procedure here in the United States, the procedure was fully approved by the PGA Tour prior to Couples’ trip over to Germany, as it didn’t involve any unnatural performance-enhancing substances being injected into the body.

To simply say that the procedure was a success would be the understatement of the year.

Immediately upon returning to the states, Couples won the Constellation Energy Senior Players Championship and then tied for 16th at last week’s Boeing Classic.

And more importantly, Couples looked completely pain free for the first time in more than a decade.

“I couldn’t have felt any better,” Couples said. “I don’t know, it just was a very unnatural feeling, even swinging a club, just not stiff or no pain.”

Although Orthokine therapy initially made headlines after Couples’ win at the Senior Players Championship, Couples was not the only golfer to have visited Dusseldorf in the past 30 days.

Vijay Singh was in Germany just days after Couples to receive the same Orthokine therapy procedure on his back, which had been giving the 48-year-old three-time major champion trouble for the last three years.

“I went to Germany and got some shots in my back exactly as Couples did,” Singh said last week at The Barclays. “Actually he was there a few days before me. It’s worked miracles.”

“I’m playing well here, because I’m feeling good. I can be more aggressive and not really worry about how I’m going to wake up the next morning, and if I can play or not. So I’ve been struggling with this for two years, so it’s the first time I feel really comfortable to go out there,” Singh went on to say.

Although Singh didn’t give “Dr. Miracle” his second win in two weeks, he came close.

Singh was just one stroke off of Matt Kuchar’s lead heading into the final round of The Barclays and wound up finishing in a tie for third at the rain-shortened tournament.

Singh’s win earned him $ 464,000 and moved him from 36th to 8th in the FedExCup point standings.

Not a bad return on investment for a procedure that likely cost him less than a yearly physical here in America.

Following the recent success Couples and Singh have experienced since undergoing Orthokine therapy, it’s by no means a stretch to believe that a parade of PGA Tour golfers are about to make a beeline towards a small clinic in Dusseldorf, Germany.

And who knows? You may even see Tiger Woods walking around the streets of Dusseldorf in the coming weeks. Woods is likely in the market for a new doctor after his former blood-spinning guy—Dr. Galea—was arrested in 2009 for carrying illegal drugs across the Canadian border.

One week prior to the Wyndham Championship, the last event before the FedEx Cup playoffs began, Irishman Padraig Harrington found himself on the outside looking in at the PGA Tour’s post season.

The FedEx Cup playoffs are reserved for the players ranked inside the top-125 in the standings, Harrington found himself ranked 130th.

Not the best position to be in for the three-time major champion from Dublin, Ireland.

The week of the Wyndham Championship, Harrington was asked about his mindset for the event, as the playoffs hung in the balance for him.

“I don’t think my approach differs at all going into this event but it may change during the event. I think like any event, you’re going in there trying to get your game in the best possible shape to start Thursday. You’re trying to go out there and win the tournament.”

“Obviously if I get myself in contention this week, I don’t have to think about qualifying for the Fed Ex because I’ll be well inside the mark. If, per chance, you know, I’m struggling to make the cut or if I’ve only just made the cut, yeah, I am thinking about the FedEx Cup.”

“But I’m a pro, 14 years. I’m playing competitively probably another pretty close, probably 30 years in total. I’m competing out there and I don’t think I’ve ever hit a shot in that time where I haven’t been trying.”

“It’s not like I’m going to try any harder at any stage this week. I will be more aware of the FedEx Cup position if I’m not playing as well but if I play well, you know, I’ll be well inside the mark. Doesn’t matter.”

Harrington obviously did what he needed to do at the Wyndham as he finished the tournament in a tie for 47, which put him in the FedEx Cup playoffs in the 124th spot.

Now in the PGA Tour’s post season, Harrington is making the most of his opportunity.

In the weather shortened first event at the Barclays, the 40-year old carded rounds of 65, 67 and 69 en route to a tie for 13th position.

That finish vaulted him from 124th in the FedEx Cup standings all the way to the 80 position, a 44 spot swing for Harrington after the first event.

With only the top-100 players in the standings moving forward to the next event in Boston, Harrington solidified his spot in that tournament.

Of course, there is only an extreme outside shot for him to win the FedEx Cup this season.

However, with the position Harrington found himself in before the playoffs began, he must certainly be very pleased with the results to this point.

Tiger Woods has been named by American captain Fred Couples to represent the USA against the International squad this November at the Presidents Cup in Australia.

Captain Couples, you have some explaining to do.

But not necessarily to the public.

No, what Couples needs to do, and hopefully already is doing, is to call every potential member of the American side and lay out his reasoning for taking Woods.

We can argue all day about whether it was right for Couples to take Woods.

Did Freddie do it for friendship? Did he do it for ratings? Was he pressured? Does he really believe his “Tiger was the best player in the world for 12 years, so he has to picked,” line?

Realistically, all those questions are more or less irrelevant because the pick has been made.

But the way this thing has played out, has to leave you wondering. Here is a quick breakdown:

Couples said he would take Tiger no matter what

Then he suggested Tiger would have to play some events after the PGA championship

Then he said Tiger should play at least one event before the Australian Open

Then Woods suggested on his own website that he wouldn’t do that

Then finally Freddie said, essentially, “forget it, I ain’t waiting until Sept. 26, Tiger is on the team.”

But the only people for whom it is really important to understand the reasoning for the decision, and more importantly feel good about it, are going to be the 11 guys other than Tiger who tee off Down Under come November.

There are going to be some hurt feelings among guys who will inevitably be left out because of Tiger. But so be it.

What ultimately will matter once the competition gets rolling are, first, how Tiger plans to justify the pick; second, how the other members of the team react to the pick.

That’s where Couples will prove his real worth as a captain. Will Freddie, despite the possible tension and even resentment of a Woods pick, be able to foster the loosey-goosey, relaxed team atmosphere that we would expect from a Couples-led team?

Because having a relaxed, confident team ready to go is going to be key in facing off against what will be a fairly stacked International squad.

Freddie has made his choice. Now he has to justify the faith put in him as captain and make it work.

The 2011 majors are behind us, which is more than we can say about Hurricane Irene. The weather conditions have forced the Barclays to shorten play from 72 to 54 holes.

You’ll still be able to catch some golf action regardless of the hand that mother nature deals. It’s just not going to be to the extent that was originally anticipated.

But the show will go on. This tournament is as wide open as all of this year’s tournaments have been. is Golf‘s elite look to end their 2011 campaigns with a bang, while up-and-comers try to make names for themselves as so many golfers have done in 2011.

This year has been jam packed with parity. Everything we thought we knew about golf has been completely thrown out the window. Underdogs and unknowns have risen to stardom and favorites have been left in a confusing state of squalor.

This tournament will be no different. The Barclays may not carry the hardware of a major, but it’s still a prestigious tournament.

Heavy hitters will all be gunning for the top spot, but as we’ve seen time and time again, there is always a guy like Keegan Bradley lurking in the field.

There is no clear-cut No. 1 player in the world and any tournament is really anyone’s for the taking. Once the storm clears and golfers make their way to the course, there is not telling what will ensue.

With all the ambiguity hovering around this tournament, it’s bound to make for can’t-miss golf action.
